President's Day

Well today is presidents day... What a glorious day celebrating the nations first president, George Washington and other president Abraham Lincoln. They were such amazing people (ya because I knew them so well personally). That is the funniest part to me is celebrating dead people. Yes they had some great achievements but to me it seems that really they are just a couple of dead dudes. If they would have never made it to the presidency it seems to me we would have been celebrating the same holiday but with different names. What if the United States' first president was named Albert Kingsley Scottston. Wouldn't it seem to have just as much significance? And instead of Lincoln abolishing slavery what if a guy named Rupert Harold Docsmith had completed the job. The funniest part to me is that both of these gentlemen's birthdays do not even fall of February 21st. It is simply because they both have birthdays in the month of February that we celebrate this holiday on a completely arbitrary date. One thing that I would be curious about is the opinions of these late presidents, what would they think of our overly consumeristic, money hungry, capitalistic obsessive country? Would Washington think when he founded this nation, that oppressing helpless people with tyranny and obsessing about becoming the all time greatest Hegemon was in our best interest? Oh well, who cares, I get a day off from school right?

The point is the celebration or significance is their achievement. Like Lincoln, not really celebrating his birthday but that he was the U.S president to abolish slavery. It also ultimately led to his demise.
Washington being the first president, celebrating democracy and his role in the constitutional US
With that being said, it is why they were chosen and not say Bush, hah
