Grades

How has it come to the point in time that literally and truly what a student or person is worth is a letter. A, B, C, D, F.... (Oh and by the way, what ever happened to E?) Letters that determine people, and how they are distinguished. Why can't you give the whole class an A or an F? If you are trying, doesn't it seem like you should be deserving of an A? I understand we need a system of being able to rank students, but I think that the system we currently have is not sufficient in the way of actually judging someone and how they actually work as a student and what to possibly they deserve. Doesn't it seem like our grading system revolves around capitalism? It seems to me as if a good grade is like a bonus check, except an A you can't spend on a new swimming pool. The thought of labeling and categorizing people so easily, disgusts me. Students that usually get really decent grades are the ones who follow strict instructions and never vere outside of the lines, which is unfortunate, because if anything it seems that if there is one thing we should be learning in class, it is independent thought and to always question and steer away from the norm that we are all expected to follow. I will now refer to a previous post of mine, Sheeple, be a sheeple and you get some grass. Stay inside the fence and you will have no problems. The synonymous ways of judging people it seems have come to a point in history that is far from how it should be. One thing you learn in one class, can be completely different in another. We have to adapt to each teacher and how they teach, but should we be forced to accept their interpretation? grades......
